The Golden Rule of the Trail
Treat others online as you would on the trail: with respect, helpfulness, and camaraderie. Whether you're commenting on a packing list or reading a trip report, remember there's a real person behind the screen.
📝 Posting Content
When you publish **Packing Lists**, **Trip Journals**, or **Gear Reviews**, you agree to:
Be Authentic
Share your actual experiences. Don't post safe/verified advice about trails you haven't hiked or gear you haven't used, especially if it could affect safety.
Keep it Safe
Do not promote dangerous activities, illegal trespassing, or self-harm. Wilderness travel has risks; don't downplay them.
Respect Privacy
Don't share private information (doxing) of others, including real names or locations, without consent.
No Spam
Don't use lists or journals purely for SEO spam, affiliate link farming, or unapproved commercial promotion.
📸 Photos & Media
- No Nudity or Sexual Violence: We have a zero-tolerance policy for pornography or sexually explicit content.
- No Graphic Violence: Do not post excessive gore or violence.
- Own Your Content: Only upload photos you took or have the right to use. Respect copyright.
🌲 Outdoor Ethics (Leave No Trace)
We love the wild, and we want to keep it wild. We strongly encourage all community members to follow Leave No Trace principles.
- Geotag Responsibly: Consider using broader regional tags (e.g., "Banff National Park") instead of precise coordinates for sensitive or unmarked locations to prevent overcrowding and damage.
- Respect Wildlife: Do not post content that depicts feeding, touching, or harassing wildlife. Keep your distance.
- Pack It Out: Ensure your photos and stories demonstrate respect for the land (no litter, no abandoned gear, no campfires in banned areas).
- Don't Glorify Damage: Avoid posting or celebrating behavior that harms the environment, such as carving trees, going off-trail in fragile alpine zones, or building illegal structures.
Enforcement
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines. In severe cases, we may ban accounts.
See something wrong? If you spot a violation, please report it via the "Report" button on the item or email us at support@basepack.app.
